Sign your PDF

Create a signature, place it on the pages, and download a signed copy. Pages are never flattened.

Electronic signature image, not a digital certificate

This adds a visible signature and optional typed text to the pages. It does not add a certificate-based digital signature, so it cannot prove identity or lock the document against edits.

Practical guide

Sign a PDF without an account or watermark

Add a handwritten signature, typed name, and date to a contract, form, or letter directly in your browser. RealScaner draws them onto the original pages, so the PDF keeps its selectable text and nothing is uploaded.

Sign a PDF on iPhone, Android, or desktop

Draw with a finger, stylus, or mouse, or upload a photo of your signature on paper and let the tool remove the background. Drag each box into place, resize it from the corner, or nudge it with the arrow keys.

Place signatures, initials, and dates on chosen pages

Add as many signature, name, and date boxes as the document needs. Each box can sit on its own page, repeat on every page for initials, or follow an exact range such as 2, 5-7 before you download the signed PDF.

Electronic signature image, not a digital certificate

The tool adds a visible electronic signature, which many everyday agreements accept. It does not add a certificate-based digital signature, and changing a PDF that is already digitally signed invalidates that earlier signature, so check what the recipient requires.

Common questions

Practical answers about privacy, formats, and output quality.

Is this a legally binding digital signature?

It adds a visible electronic signature image and optional typed text. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, so it cannot prove identity or detect later edits. Many everyday agreements accept a signature image, but check what your recipient or jurisdiction requires.

Is my PDF or signature uploaded?

No. Opening the PDF, drawing or cleaning up the signature, page previews, and building the signed copy all run inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a RealScaner server.

Do I need an account, and is there a watermark?

No. There is no account, login, or watermark, and the only limit is what your browser can handle. The signed PDF contains only the boxes you placed.

Will the text in my PDF stay selectable?

Yes. Signatures and text are drawn on top of the original pages. Pages are not converted to images, so text, links, and page sizes stay as they were. Form fields stay editable and are not filled in.

Can I sign a password-protected PDF?

No. Encrypted PDFs are rejected. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then sign the unlocked copy.

What happens if the PDF already has a digital signature?

Saving any change rewrites the file, so an existing certificate-based signature will show as invalid. The tool warns you and asks you to confirm before it creates the signed copy.
