Cookie Notice
Effective date: September 14, 2026
Last updated: September 14, 2026
This Cookie Notice explains how RealScaner (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies, local storage, session storage, scripts, pixels, beacons, and similar technologies on https://realscaner.com/ and its localized pages and browser tools.
Read this Notice with the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
1. What these technologies do
These technologies can:
- operate requested site features;
- remember theme and privacy choices;
- measure traffic and performance;
- protect against fraud and invalid traffic;
- display and measure advertising; and
- personalize advertising where permitted.
The scanner and current browser tools process document content locally. Cookies and similar technologies are not intended to store document images, document text, signatures, annotations, or exported files.
2. Current technology inventory
The exact technologies depend on page, browser, location, consent, provider configuration, and advertising settings. Names and durations can change. The following inventory must be checked against a clean-browser scan before each material release.
| Name or technology | Provider | Category | Purpose | Typical duration or retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| realscaner-theme | RealScaner | Necessary | Remembers light/dark theme | Until changed or site data is cleared |
| realscaner-consent-v1 | RealScaner | Necessary | Stores privacy and consent choices | Until changed, replaced, withdrawn, or site data is cleared |
| Temporary session storage for signature handoff | RealScaner | Functional | Sends a prepared signature to the scanner in the same browser session; consumed once | Until consumed, tab/session ends, or site data is cleared |
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Distinguishes browsers for measurement | Commonly up to approximately two years, subject to configuration |
| _ga_G-3M8EZ74CV9 | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Maintains measurement-session information | Commonly up to approximately two years, subject to configuration |
| Cloudflare RUM beacon and related identifiers | Cloudflare | Performance/analytics | Measures performance, reliability, security, and diagnostics where enabled | Varies by Cloudflare configuration |
| Google AdSense and Google advertising identifiers, including examples such as IDE or NID | Google and participating partners | Advertising | Serves, measures, secures, frequency-limits, and personalizes advertising where permitted | Varies by technology, browser, jurisdiction, and provider configuration |
The Google Analytics cookie name shown above reflects current site configuration. If the measurement configuration changes, this table shall be updated.
Microsoft Clarity cookies and Bing Webmaster Tools are not listed as active visitor technologies because they were not observed on the reviewed live pages. Add them before enabling either service.
3. Necessary storage
Necessary storage supports:
- core page and tool behavior;
- theme preference;
- privacy settings;
- consent records;
- security and reliability; and
- a feature you expressly request.
RealScaner cannot remember your settings if you block all site storage. Local document files remain under your browser and device control.
4. Analytics and performance
RealScaner currently uses Google Analytics 4 and a Cloudflare performance or Real User Monitoring beacon where enabled. They can process page, device, browser, referral, interaction, performance, diagnostic, and approximate location information.
RealScaner does not intentionally send scanner document content, signatures, annotations, or exported file content to analytics providers.
Analytics and non-essential performance technologies must remain off until the user gives consent in locations where consent is required. Google Analytics consent-mode behavior must match the selected implementation. The site must not claim that analytics is “off” while a live tag still sends requests.
5. Advertising
RealScaner uses Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, Google and participating advertising partners can process page context, IP address, approximate location, device and browser information, advertising identifiers, ad interactions, and prior visits where permitted.
Advertising can be contextual or personalized. Personalized advertising uses previously collected information to influence the ads shown. Users can manage Google advertising preferences at:
Google requires publisher disclosures about cookies and prior-visit-based advertising. Google’s Business Data Responsibility information is available at:
https://business.safety.google/privacy/
For EEA, UK, and Swiss visitors, RealScaner must use Google Privacy & Messaging or another Google-certified CMP integrated with IAB Europe TCF. The CMP must identify applicable vendors, collect and record valid consent, transmit the consent signal, and provide a simple revocation path. If optional advertising storage is rejected, RealScaner’s safest configuration is to make no AdSense request in those regions.
6. Consent and privacy choices
Necessary storage can operate without consent where legally permitted. Analytics, advertising, and non-essential performance technologies require consent where applicable law requires it.
The first consent layer must:
- describe cookies or similar technologies;
- state that Google and advertising partners can use data for ads personalization, measurement, security, and fraud prevention;
- identify that applicable data can be shared with Google and participating partners;
- link directly to Google’s Business Data Responsibility information;
- show Accept all, Reject optional, and Manage choices with comparable prominence; and
- link to this Notice and the Privacy Policy.
Consent must be granular, informed, freely given, and withdrawable. Continued browsing is not consent where affirmative consent is required.
7. US privacy choices
Use the site footer link titled “Your Privacy Choices” or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” to reject targeted advertising and applicable sale or sharing. The link must work without an account.
Where required by law, RealScaner honors a Global Privacy Control or similar recognized opt-out preference signal. The active CMP or advertising system must receive and enforce the signal.
Google Privacy & Messaging US state messages and GPP support can be used where appropriate. Google’s message targeting and vendor configuration do not replace the publisher’s responsibility to comply with applicable law.
8. Browser controls
Most browsers let you view, delete, block, or restrict cookies and site data. You can also clear local storage and session storage. Blocking all storage can remove theme and consent preferences and can cause the consent dialog to appear again.
Browser controls do not necessarily stop all network requests. RealScaner must also gate optional tags and honor privacy signals in its consent system.
9. Retention and changes
Session storage normally ends with the session or tab. Local storage remains until changed or cleared. Google, Cloudflare, and other providers determine retention for their own technologies subject to their settings, policies, contracts, and legal duties.
We update this Notice when technologies, providers, advertising settings, consent behavior, or legal requirements change. If a change requires new consent, we request it before using the changed technology.
